Wood Signs of Gatlinburg, Inc. is located at 715 Parkway, Suite 1 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a small resort town known as the “Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park,” which prides itself on its rich mountain heritage.

Our family owned sign business was founded in 1971 by Cal and Linda Jones. The business is now operated by daughters Suzannah and Sarah Jones, along with son-in-law Tim Vance.

The Wood Signs Crew Includes:

Tim Vance, a Pigeon Forge, TN native joined our team in 2010. With over 30 years experience as a skilled carpenter and custom cabinet maker we are thrilled to have him be on our crew. Tim excels in making signs with a hand held router. He is responsible for the handling of our raw lumber and is in charge of using aband saw to cut all of our sign templates. His outgoing personality provides excellent customer service. Tim enjoys riding his ATV 4-wheeler, playing drums and mandolin, practices Mixed Martial Arts, is a dog lover, bow hunter and loves spending time with his grand daughter who calls him “Grumpy.”

Cassey Grinstead joined our team in February of 2020. She grew up in Pigeon Forge, TN. She is a 2016 graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a major in Art. Cassey is an extremely talented artist who transforms our engraved images into works of art. Her art degree and natural talent allows her to have the knowledge and eye to paint using highlighting and shadowing that takes the images to the next level. She is proficient in making computerized signs and her finished work is beautiful. She is a mother to one beautiful little girl.  Cassey enjoys spending time with her daughter and visiting family. She is a Harry Potter fan and loves anything and everything Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot.

Sarah Jones has grown up in the sign business becoming a full time employee in 1997. She is the eldest daughter of our founders Cal and Linda Jones. Sarah is responsible for computerized CNC sign making operations, hand carved signs and is quite accomplished in hand painted designs. Her art work is beautiful! Sarah loves spending time with her daughter Hannah. She is into scary movies and loves her guinea pig named Henrietta.

Suzannah Jones, also grew up in the sign business. She is the youngest daughter of our founders. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Tourism Management began full time work with us in 2006. She is responsible for all managing, purchasing, accounting, operations, packing and shipping and customer service. Suzannah is great at taking a sign idea from a customer and turning it into art. She excels at CNC milling of signs and hand held router work. Suzannah is a workout and health/nutrition enthusiast. She loves hiking, reading memoirs and true crime books, watching movies, playing with her two dogs and spending time with her step-grand daughter who calls her “Nana.”

Our Founders Cal & Linda Jones are both originally from North Carolina. Cal from Mocksville and Linda from Fayetteville. They met while attending Western Carolina University studying to be school teachers. They both taught school in North Carolina before moving to Gatlinburg and opening Rustic Redwood Signs in 1971. After years of operations the business name was changed to Wood Signs of Gatlinburg, Inc. Cal is a master sign maker and an extremely smart business man. Linda is our book keeper. Cal is an avid bird hunter and loves his hunting dogs like they are his children. Linda likes reading and gardening. They both love to travel, go on daily walks and spend time with family especially their grand daughters who call them “Pop and Namie”.

We have been in business at the same location in Gatlinburg since 1971 making us the oldest carved wood sign shop in the city. We also have lumber storage, pattern cutting and shipping facilities at a different location. Woods Signs of Gatlinburg is a member in good standing with the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.

We make hand crafted, custom, and personalized wooden signs from quality wood species. All of our wood signs are handcrafted individually as they are ordered using only the finest cedar species. These woods are very durable and weather resistant, making any personalized sign you choose suitable for indoor decor or outdoor use.
